The meeting saw the formal approval and support for the Wayanad Housing Project, an initiative envisioned by our National President to provide sustainable housing solutions in the Wayanad region.

Shri Vijayan Vellinezhi – From Kolkata to Delhi: A Life’s Journey of Culture, Growth, and Gratitude

A Heartfelt Farewell: Shri Vijayan Vellinezhi Bids Goodbye to the City of Joy

The City of Joy is known for many things — its unmatched cultural tapestry, its intellectual richness, its emotional depth, and its timeless spirit. For Shri Vijayan Vellinezhi, Kolkata was all this and more. After 36 remarkable years of living in this historic city, he and his family are preparing to turn a new page. On 1st June, they will relocate to New Delhi, closing an unforgettable chapter and embracing the next.

The move is filled with excitement, but also profound emotion. Kolkata has been a nurturing ground — a place where personal identity, professional accomplishments, and deep friendships took shape. It’s where the journey of P.V. Vijaya Kumar evolved into the multifaceted and culturally enriched persona of Vijayan Vellinezhi — a transition that speaks volumes of the support, kindness, and encouragement received from the community over the decades.

Throughout his time in Kolkata, Shri Vijayan Vellinezhi immersed himself fully in the city’s social and cultural landscape. His contributions in the field of culture were especially notable, marked by tireless dedication and an unwavering passion for artistic expression. He didn’t just participate in Kolkata’s cultural scene — he helped shape and elevate it. With each event, performance, and gathering, he contributed to a shared legacy of art and expression that Kolkata holds so dearly.

Equally respected in the social sphere, Shri Vijayan Vellinezhi served with distinction as the President of AIMA West Bengal. His leadership, vision, and commitment to community development inspired many, and his presence in regional professional networks helped foster collaboration, excellence, and inclusivity.

Yet what stands out most is not just the accolades or the roles he played, but the relationships he built. Friends, colleagues, cultural associates, and neighbors became family. The warmth extended to the Vellinezhi family — from all walks of life — is something they hold deeply in their hearts. Every corner of this city, from its heritage buildings to its bustling coffee houses, tells a story that includes them.

Their time in Kolkata was not just about work or contribution; it was also about love — love for the people, for the traditions, and for the rhythm of a city that pulses with poetry and purpose. They watched as Calcutta transformed into Kolkata, not just in name, but in its modern identity and global stride. And through it all, they remained a part of its soul.

Now, as Delhi prepares to welcome Shri Vijayan Vellinezhi, the family steps forward with optimism. The Capital offers new opportunities and a fresh platform for continued growth — culturally, professionally, and personally. The legacy they carry from Kolkata will be their guiding light, and their hearts remain open to making new connections and friendships in this next phase of life.

The AIMA Northern Region has extended a warm welcome, recognizing the arrival of not just a professional leader, but a cultural ambassador and community builder. Delhi stands to gain from the presence of someone who brings decades of experience, humility, and insight — forged in the crucible of Kolkata’s ever-giving spirit.

Conclusion:

As this cherished chapter in Kolkata comes to a close, it leaves behind a legacy of gratitude, friendship, and meaningful impact. Shri Vijayan Vellinezhi’s journey through the City of Joy has been one of growth, connection, and deep cultural engagement. His contributions have touched many lives, and his presence has enriched every space he has entered.

Though the physical move to Delhi marks a geographical change, the spirit of Kolkata — its affection, its memories, and its teachings — will remain a part of the Vellinezhi family’s story forever. The city made them who they are today, and for that, they remain eternally thankful.

A new chapter begins — and while goodbyes may be bittersweet, the bond with Kolkata will never fade. The journey continues, and so does the promise of new memories, new friends, and new ways to serve and connect.

Special Train from Nizamuddin to Kerala Amid Border Tensions: A Timely Response to a Humanitarian Need

Background: War-like Situations at the Borders

Amidst escalating war-like conditions near the border regions of Punjab and Kashmir, panic and uncertainty gripped many, especially students and Malayalee residents living in these sensitive areas. With transportation severely disrupted and safety becoming a growing concern, hundreds of Malayalees began moving towards Delhi, hoping to find a way back home to Kerala.

The Crisis and the Need for Immediate Action

As the situation intensified, students and other individuals from Kerala who had arrived in Delhi were left stranded without a clear means of returning to their home state. Recognizing the urgency and humanitarian need, the All India Malayalee Association (AIMA) activated its Quick Response Wing to intervene and facilitate a safe passage for these individuals.

AIMA’s Intervention: Quick Response and Strategic Action

Taking swift and decisive action, Shri Alex P. Sunil, the National Secretary of AIMA’s Quick Response Wing, took the matter into his own hands. He immediately reached out to the Chairman of the Railway Board, briefing him about the ground realities and the pressing need for a special train to transport the stranded Malayalees.

Following this, as per the Chairman’s advice, Alex Sunil submitted a formal request via email to the Honourable Railway Minister. Moved by the situation and urgency, the Railway Minister quickly directed concerned officials to take the necessary steps.

From Punjab to Delhi: The Logistical Shift

Initially, the authorities considered scheduling a special train directly from Punjab. However, upon reviewing the situation, it was revealed that most of the Malayalee population had already moved to Delhi, making it more practical and efficient to start the train from Delhi rather than Punjab. This strategic adjustment led to the decision of initiating the special train from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi.

Official Notification and Coordination

Early this morning, the Railway Notification was released and immediately shared with the National Secretary of AIMA QRT. The information was disseminated across various student hostels, Kerala House, and other accommodations in Delhi where the Malayalee students and residents were staying.

All individuals were requested to report at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station by 2:00 PM to board the special train.

Acknowledgement and Gratitude

The timely intervention and empathetic response from the Railway Minister was a relief for the stranded citizens. Shri Alex P. Sunil, on behalf of the All India Malayalee Association’s Quick Response Wing, expressed sincere gratitude to the minister for recognizing the urgency and approving the special train without delay.

A Special Mention: Support from Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar

It is important to acknowledge the valuable role played by Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, former Union Minister, in making this effort successful. He personally introduced Shri Alex P. Sunil to the Railway Board Chairman and the Railway Minister, and strongly requested their support in ensuring the safety and return of the stranded Malayalee citizens. His timely intervention and influential backing played a crucial part in facilitating the approval of the special train from Delhi to Kerala. The All India Malayalee Association extends its heartfelt thanks to Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar for his commitment and genuine concern for the welfare of the community.

Conclusion: A Testament to Timely Support and Community Effort

This incident highlights the importance of proactive coordination between government institutions and community organizations during times of crisis. The swift action taken by AIMA’s Quick Response Wing and the responsiveness of the Railway Ministry ensured that hundreds of lives were safeguarded, and a potentially difficult situation was effectively managed.

As tensions continue along the borders, this effort stands as a shining example of humanitarian intervention, showing how compassion, communication, and quick decisions can create a lifeline for those in distress.

AIMA Quick Response Team Steps Up Amidst Border Conflict: Providing Critical Support for Stranded Individuals

Mobilizing Swift Action During Crisis

In light of the recent tensions and disruptions caused by the conflict between neighboring countries, the All India Malayalee Association (AIMA) has once again risen to the occasion. With people, especially students, stranded in various parts of the country — particularly in sensitive border regions — AIMA has deployed its Quick Response Team to provide immediate and effective support.

Leadership in Action: Coordinated Efforts from the Ground

Under the dynamic leadership of Shri Alex P Sunil, the National Secretary for Quick Response Operations, AIMA initiated direct coordination with stranded students, particularly in Punjab and other bordering states. Shri Sunil gathered vital data, verified identities, and facilitated safe transportation of these students to Delhi, serving as a transit hub before they could be sent onward to their respective hometowns.

Demonstrating consistent commitment, just yesterday, the team successfully arranged travel for another 50 students from various locations across Punjab — a state deeply affected due to its proximity to the border.

Safe Shelter and Compassionate Hospitality in Delhi

AIMA, with the support of the broader Malayalee community in Delhi, is ensuring not only safe travel but also dignified and secure accommodation for all the stranded individuals. Arrangements have been made at several reputable locations, including:

  • Kerala House, Delhi
  • Surjeet Bhavan
  • JS Walia International Youth Hostel
  • DMA Bhawan
  • And other community-run facilities generously offered by Malayalee associations and allied organizations in the capital.

These arrangements aim to provide comfort, meals, and necessary amenities during their brief stay in Delhi before they proceed to their native places.

Helpline Support: One Call Away from Assistance

Understanding the urgency of the situation, AIMA has activated its Toll-Free Helpline Number: 1800 572 9391. To manage the increased volume of support requests, the helpline has been upgraded with a special department and multiple extensions. Callers can simply press “3” after the welcome message in the IVR menu to connect with the Quick Response Support Team and receive immediate guidance.

Nationwide Coordination and Solidarity

This mission is not only a logistical operation but also a gesture of compassion and solidarity. It reflects the true spirit of the Malayalee community and AIMA’s commitment to national service beyond regional boundaries. The active participation of volunteers, community leaders, and state units of AIMA across India is making this emergency effort possible.

Conclusion: AIMA’s Quick Response Team – A Symbol of Hope in Times of Distress

In moments of uncertainty and danger, organizations like AIMA prove to be a beacon of hope. The Quick Response Team, with Shri Alex P Sunil at the helm, continues to stand by the vulnerable and displaced, offering not just logistical aid but also emotional reassurance. As more students and citizens look for help, AIMA assures that no one will be left behind.

Together, with compassion, clarity, and coordination, we shall overcome this crisis — one life, one family, one journey at a time.

🔊 All AIMA members and well-wishers are kindly requested to share this information widely among community circles, WhatsApp groups, educational institutions, and social platforms to reach as many affected individuals as possible.
