The All India Malayalee Association (AIMA) continues to strengthen its role as a national platform connecting Malayalees across India and beyond. In a significant step toward addressing key issues concerning the Malayalee community, AIMA National President Dr. Gokulam Gopalan and AIMA Goa State President Shri Raju Nambiar paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Hon’ble Governor of Kerala, at Raj Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram.

Purpose of the Visit

The meeting centered on the welfare and development of the Malayalee diaspora residing in various parts of India, particularly in states like Goa where the Malayalee community plays an active role in social, cultural, and professional spheres. The AIMA delegation shared insights into the activities and community support initiatives being carried out by different state units of AIMA, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to unity, empowerment, and national integration.

Key Points of Discussion

During the discussion, Dr. Gokulam Gopalan highlighted the need for improved connectivity between Kerala and other states, which would benefit not only the Malayalee diaspora but also enhance trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. One of the main topics included the proposal to introduce a Vande Bharat Train service between Kerala and Goa. This initiative, if realized, would significantly ease travel for Malayalee families, students, and professionals residing in Goa and neighboring states.

Shri Raju Nambiar emphasized the importance of enhanced air connectivity between Goa and Kerala, noting that a direct flight service could open new avenues for tourism, healthcare, and business collaboration. The Governor appreciated AIMA’s proactive approach and assured his support in exploring these suggestions with the concerned authorities.

Strengthening Diaspora Relations

The discussion also touched upon the broader vision of AIMA to serve as a bridge between the Malayalee diaspora and their home state. The leaders reiterated AIMA’s ongoing efforts to create programs that promote cultural heritage, youth engagement, women empowerment, and social welfare across its national network of state and district units.

Governor’s Encouragement

His Excellency Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar commended the dedication and initiatives of AIMA and acknowledged the positive impact of the Malayalee community in Goa and other parts of India. He appreciated the association’s constructive proposals and expressed optimism about closer cooperation between the Malayalee diaspora and state-level development missions.

Conclusion

The meeting at Raj Bhavan marked a meaningful dialogue between AIMA leadership and the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala. It reaffirmed AIMA’s commitment to representing the interests of Malayalees nationwide while also contributing to India’s broader vision of connectivity, inclusivity, and progress.
