AIMA West Zonal Meeting 2025 – A Milestone Gathering in Mumbai

The All India Malayalee Association (AIMA) successfully conducted its West Zonal Meeting on 16th November 2025 at Mumbai, Maharashtra. This crucial gathering brought together key national leaders, state committee officials, and representatives from the western states to review progress, address ongoing challenges, and set the direction for future initiatives.
1. Opening of the Meeting
The meeting began with a solemn prayer, followed by an emotional condolence tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives in the tragic bomb explosion at the Red Fort, Delhi. The message reflected AIMA’s commitment to national solidarity and respect.

3. Welcome Address
State General Secretary (In-charge) Sri. Sreeretnan Nanu welcomed all dignitaries and participants warmly. As a gesture of respect, shawls were presented to Sri. Binu Divakaran, Sri. K. R. Manoj, Sri. Shankara Narayanan, and Sri. Jolly Elanthur.
4. Presidential Address – Vision for a Stronger Zone
Zonal Vice President Sri. Upendra Menon expressed deep satisfaction in hosting the first-ever West Zonal Meet, conducted alongside the AIMA Voice Zonal Competition.
He appreciated the progress of all states in implementing Central Committee directives, including:
- Food for the Needy Program
- Quick Response Team (QRT) Activities
- Membership Expansion Drives
- Housing Projects for the Underprivileged
He encouraged members to introduce more initiatives in sports, arts, and charity, inspiring them with the message to “move like a river – never stop because of challenges.”

5. Address by National Senior Vice President
Sri. Binu Divakaran highlighted several critical points:
- This is the first zonal meet in AIMA’s history, marking a major milestone.
- Appreciated the leadership efforts of Sri. Upendra Menon, Sri. Jyotheendran Mundackal, and Sri. T. A. Khalid during a confusing phase of competition arrangements.
- Informed that Madhya Pradesh State accounts are pending submission.
- Urged all state officials to update their KYC within 15 days to strengthen administrative processes.

6. Address by National General Secretary
National General Secretary Sri. K. R. Manoj shared key updates and proposals:
- The AIMA Voice Program is progressing with tremendous success nationwide.
- Similar zonal meets are planned across all regions for better coordination.
- AIMA has already constructed and handed over one house to a needy family; the second and third houses are under process.
- Proposed introducing a new Entrepreneur Membership with a one-time contribution of ₹1 lakh, including special recognition at national or state events.

7. State Reports – Progress & Challenges
Madhya Pradesh – Report by Sri. Jolly Elanthur
- Regular Food for the Needy initiatives.
- Participation in the Kerala Festival.
- Celebrated Women’s Day and Nurses’ Day.
- Upcoming National Music Festival with well-known film personalities.
Goa – Report by Sri. Shankara Narayanan
- Conducted a Dance Festival, National Badminton Event, and AIMA Voice State Competition.
- Fund collection remains difficult due to the existence of 15+ Malayali organisations in a small region.
- QRT handles 2–3 cases per month, functioning effectively.
Maharashtra – Report by Sri. T. A. Khalid
- Urgent need to intensify efforts for fundraising to purchase new office premises.
- National officials have assured strong support.
- Existing internal issues have been resolved through cooperation.
- Acknowledged the energy and inspiration provided by Adv. G. A. K. Nair.

8. Remarks by National Vice Chairman
Sri. Jyotheendran Mundackal addressed coordination gaps:
- Some Central Sub-Committees take decisions without consulting state committees, causing difficulties.
- The AIMA Voice Zonal Program, though hosted by Maharashtra, was a four-state joint initiative; hence communication must be clearer.

9. Remarks by Treasurer – Maharashtra
Treasurer Sri. G. Komalan pointed out:
- The AIMA Voice Zonal Program is financially demanding.
- Recommended restructuring the financial and event-planning model for future programs.
10. Response by National Senior Vice President
Sri. Binu Divakaran acknowledged all concerns and assured:
- Proper roadmaps will be created for competitions.
- Clear separation of guidelines will be made for Kerala-based and outside-Kerala participants.
11. Vote of Thanks
Adv. G. A. K. Nair delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all national leaders, state representatives, and members for their dedicated participation and meaningful contributions.
