A Celebration of Unity, Joy, and Tradition

Onam, the grand festival of Kerala, is a time that celebrates family togetherness, culture, and prosperity. This year, AIMA National Youth Wing embraced the festive spirit in a digital way through “Kudumba Onam 2025”, an online celebration filled with creativity and cultural vibrancy. Conducted between 30th August and 30th September 2025, the initiative invited Malayalee families from across India to share their Onam joy virtually.

AIMA Youth Wing’s Online Festive Initiative

With the theme “Celebrate Onam with Your Family”, the AIMA Youth Wing encouraged families to showcase their festive spirit through a Reel Making Contest. Participants were invited to create short music reels capturing traditional elements like:

  • 🌸 Athapookkalam (floral carpet)
  • 🍲 Onasadya (traditional feast)
  • 💃 Cultural performances or dances
  • 🎉 Joyful family moments

The contest beautifully combined creativity with connectivity, allowing participants to upload their reels on Instagram and collaborate with the official AIMA Youth Wing handle. This approach helped spread the Onam spirit beyond physical boundaries while maintaining the essence of cultural celebration.

Event Coordination and Leadership

The entire contest was smoothly coordinated under the leadership of:

  • Mr. Balachandran B. L., National Chairman, AIMA Youth Wing
  • Mr. Adarsh Nair, Convenor, Gujarat
  • Mr. Vignesh Vishalan, Convenor, Hyderabad
  • Mrs. Krishna Nair, Convenor, Uttar Pradesh

Their collective efforts ensured wide participation, transparency in judging, and active engagement across multiple states.

Contest Evaluation Process

Entries were evaluated based on a balanced judgment sheet that considered creativity and family participation. Each contestant was assessed in five main categories:

  1. Pookkalam
  2. Sadya
  3. Dance or Cultural Expression
  4. Family Involvement
  5. Public Engagement (Instagram Likes)

The scores were then aggregated to determine the top performers of Kudumba Onam 2025.
