In a touching expression of empathy and community responsibility, the All India Malayalee Association (AIMA) Odisha Unit once again stepped forward with its humanitarian initiative, “Food for the Needy.” The latest outreach was held at Jeevan Jyothi Ashram, Khandagiri Bari, Bhubaneswar—an abode of care for orphaned children and the elderly.

The event unfolded on a serene Sunday afternoon, bringing together a compassionate team of AIMA Odisha members and volunteers, all driven by a common mission—to nourish not just bodies but also spirits. Jeevan Jyothi Ashram, which provides shelter to homeless senior citizens and vulnerable children, resonates with a mission to instill dignity and hope among its residents. With dreams of moving to a permanent facility, the Ashram continues to inspire many through its silent yet impactful service.

AIMA Leadership at the Forefront

The day’s event was gracefully coordinated under the leadership of:

  • Shri M Chandramohanan, President, AIMA Odisha
  • Shri V Ganesh Kumar, Secretary
alongside an energetic team of office bearers and executive members including:
  • Shri Reghu Kumar, Vice-President
  • Shri K Mohanan, NGC Member
  • Shri Sonny CC, EC Member
  • Shri Radhakrishnan, EC Member & Secretary of KKS
  • Smt Bindu Reghu Kumar, EC Member
  • Mrs. Lincy CC, Member

Their presence and proactive engagement infused the atmosphere with positivity and solidarity. Volunteers personally served warm, nutritious meals to the Ashram’s residents, spending quality time interacting, sharing smiles, and listening to life stories that often go unheard.

A Gesture that Inspired

A special moment during the event was the generous sponsorship of the day’s program by Shri John Ambooken, EC Member, whose thoughtful contribution received heartfelt appreciation. His gesture set a powerful example, prompting other Executive Committee members to spontaneously come forward and commit to supporting future editions of the program.

Strengthening Social Responsibility

The “Food for the Needy” program has become a signature act of service for AIMA Odisha, reflecting the organization’s deep-rooted values of inclusiveness, empathy, and proactive citizenship. It is not merely a feeding initiative—it is a movement of kindness, aiming to make the invisible visible, the forgotten remembered, and the unloved embraced.

Conclusion

As the sun set over Jeevan Jyothi Ashram on June 29, it illuminated more than just the sky—it shone on a community bound by compassion and purpose. AIMA Odisha’s continued outreach reminds us all of the power of collective goodwill and the difference a simple act of care can make. With more such events planned in the coming months, AIMA Odisha warmly invites well-wishers, volunteers, and partners to join the journey. Because every shared meal is a step closer to a more compassionate society.
